Q & M rolls out Singapore's First Private Mobile Dental Clinic With Free Dental Screening
At Junior Colleges And Tertiary Institutions.
|

|
To raise awareness of proper dental care amongst Singaporeans, Q & M rolled out its Mobile Dental Clinic ("MDC") as part of the Group's island-wide dental outreach programme.
The first private mobile dental clinic in Singapore, Q & M's MDC was officially launched by the Ministry of Health's Chief Dental Officer, Clinical Associate Professor Patrick Tseng, at Yishun Junior College on 3 October 2008.
The primary objective of Q & M's MDC is to promote the importance of proper dental healthcare and make dental screening as well as dental treatment more accessible to Singaporeans.
For a start, Q & M's MDC will visit junior colleges and tertiary institutions as the Group believes in inculcating the benefits of proper dental healthcare at a young age, and equip them with good practices into adulthood. These students will receive free dental screening when the MDC visits their schools.
|
To date, Q & M's MDC has received overwhelming responses from educational institutions. In the next two months, it will visit some junior colleges, polytechnics and universities.
As part of Q & M's ongoing corporate social responsibility programme, the MDC has also visited the MINDS Garden School ('Movement for the Intellectually Disabled'). There are plans to serve non-ambulant patients in some long term care facilities as well as those who have inadequate access to affordable dental care.
Moving ahead, Q & M intend to deploy the MDC at high traffic areas such as shopping malls, in the CBD area, as well as industrial estates, amongst others.

About Q & M's MDC
|
Built at an estimated cost of $230,000.000, the MDC is a specially constructed container truck measuring 9.3m in length, 3.7m in height and 2.5m in width. The MDC has two dental chairs and is equipped with basic dental facilities such as x-ray machine. Based on an initial
estimate of about 50-60 patients per day, the MDC has an estimated throughput of 20,000 patients per year.
Additionally, Q & M will also encapsulate target groups outside the realm of educational institutions by visiting corporations and provide on-site affordable dental screening and treatments to staff and workers. Simple dental procedures such as scaling, polishing and fillings can be done at MDC.
